Is anyone copying your brand?

Search the marks published in recent Trade Marks Journals for names that look or sound like yours. The search runs in your browser, so the name you type isn’t sent to us.

How the check works

Each published mark is compared with your brand by spelling and by sound, using rules tuned for Indian names (so Kavach and Kawach count as alike). Marks in the same or a related class score higher. A high score means the mark deserves a closer look, not that it infringes yours.

We republish only the facts printed in the official Trade Marks Journal: application number, the word mark, class, journal number and date.

Found a mark like yours?

You can oppose it within 4 months of the journal date, and the period can’t be extended. Read how to oppose a trademark in India, or put the date in the opposition deadline calculator to get a calendar reminder.

Frequently asked questions

Is the brand check free?

Yes. The brand check, the tools and the guides are free. You pay only if you want us to watch your brand in every new journal.

Do you store the brand names I search?

No. The search runs in your browser against a file of published marks, so the name you type is not sent to us.

Which journals does the check cover?

The Trade Marks Journal issues listed above the search box. We add each new issue after it is published.

Does a high score mean I can stop the other mark?

Not on its own. It means the names look or sound alike. Whether to oppose depends on your goods, your use of the mark and other facts, so speak to a trademark agent or advocate.

This score is an automated estimate of how alike two names look and sound. It is not a legal opinion on whether the marks are deceptively similar.
